Válek Jiří

From 1964 to 1975 he was a member of the Czech Nonet,  From 1964 to 1975 he was a member of the Czech Nonet, the chamber ensemble of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra and since 1975 the 1st flutist of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. From the 1970s he was also a member of the Ars Rediviva ensemble. As a soloist he performed at the Prague Spring International Music Festival, in the subscription cycles of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, the Prague Symphony Orchestra FOK, Prague Radio Symphonic Orchestra and with other orchestras, also in Japan, Germany, Austria, etc. He has made numerous solo recordings for Supraphon, Panton, Chandos, Naxos, Vanguard Classics, Pony Canyon and for Czech and foreign broadcasting channels. He taught for five years at the Prague Conservatory, and from 1978 at the Academy of Performing Arts, where he was appointed Professor of the Music Faculty in 1997. He led performance courses in Prague, Austria, Japan, and the USA, regularly participated in juries of international performance competitions (Prague Spring, Budapest, Geneva, Vienna, Krakow...). He has made a significant contribution to the field of jazz. He has written and recorded several tens of compositions and collaborated with leading personalities and orchestras of this genre. He has performed at jazz festivals and jazz clubs at home and abroad. He continues to perform regularly with his quartet in jazz clubs in Prague and outside of Prague
